Discover more about Skylon Tower

The Skylon Tower is an iconic fixture of the Niagara Falls skyline, offering unparalleled views of the natural wonder and surrounding landscape. Standing 520 feet (160 meters) from street level and 775 feet (236 meters) from the base of the falls, the tower provides a vantage point to see both the American and Horseshoe Falls. On a clear day, visitors can even spot the skylines of Toronto and Buffalo. Construction on the Skylon Tower began in May 1964, and it officially opened on October 6, 1965. The tower was designed by the Toronto architectural firm Bregman and Hamann, drawing inspiration from the Space Needle in Seattle. The construction cost $7 million at the time. A unique aspect of its construction was the use of the 'slip form' technique, where concrete was continuously poured into a moving form, a method also used for the CN Tower. The Skylon Tower offers more than just views. Visitors can dine in the revolving dining room, which completes a full rotation every hour, providing a constantly changing panorama. The tower also features a family-friendly buffet. The 'Yellow Bug' elevators, the first of their kind in Canada, transport visitors to the top in just 52 seconds. The base of the tower includes a shopping center, arcade, and a 3D/4D movie theatre.
