    Philosopher's Walk, located on the University of Toronto's St. George campus, is a serene and historic pathway that offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city. The path traces the route of Taddle Creek, a natural waterway buried in 1884 to serve as a sewer. Today, the walkway provides a picturesque route through the heart of the university.The walk is framed by several significant landmarks, including the Royal Ontario Museum, the Royal Conservatory of Music, Trinity College, and the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law. The northern entrance is marked by the Queen Alexandra Gateway, originally erected in 1901 to commemorate a royal visit and moved to its current location in 1960. The letters 'E' and 'A' on the gateposts stand for King Edward and Queen Alexandra. In 2006, the Bennett Gates were added at the southern end of the walk.In 1990, fourteen red oak trees were planted along the path to memorialize the women who perished in the Montreal Massacre of 1989. A small amphitheater, constructed in 2010 using Wiarton limestone, provides seating for gatherings and individual reflection. The path's design, reimagined by landscape architect Michael Hough, evokes the area's natural history.Philosopher's Walk links the university's core to The Annex, a neighborhood known for its academic residents. The walk provides a space for quiet contemplation and a connection to nature within the urban environment.
