Trillium Park: Toronto's Urban Oasis

Trillium Park, located on Toronto's waterfront, is a 7.5-acre urban park that provides a naturalized escape from the city. Opened in 2017 as part of a revitalization project for Ontario Place, the park transformed a former parking lot into a green space that celebrates Ontario's diverse landscapes and honors the history and culture of Indigenous peoples. The park's design, influenced by consultations with Indigenous communities, incorporates native plants, rolling hills, and rocky outcrops to evoke Ontario's natural environments. The 1.3-kilometer William G. Davis Trail, named after the former Premier of Ontario, meanders through the park, offering views of Lake Ontario and the Toronto skyline. Key features of Trillium Park include the Pavilion, a wooden structure inspired by traditional Indigenous longhouses, and the Fire Pit, located along the water's edge. Visitors can also explore the Romantic Garden, an open space for rest and recreation, and the Summit, the highest point in the park, providing panoramic views. The park's design includes a Ravine with Moccasin Identifier, a visual reminder of the history and culture of Indigenous peoples. Throughout the year, Trillium Park hosts a variety of events, including live music, art festivals, and community gatherings. The park is easily accessible by public transit, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
