The most common route is to take a ferry from Salt Spring Island to Swartz Bay. Once you arrive at Swartz Bay, drive north on the BC-1 highway towards Nanaimo. Follow signs for the BC-19 highway and continue to the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal. Take the ferry to the U.S. mainland at Point Roberts. After disembarking, drive east on WA-543 and merge onto I-5 S. Follow I-5 S until you reach I-90 E. Merge onto I-90 E towards Spokane and then onto I-81 S towards Syracuse. Finally, take NY-12 towards Alexandria Bay.
