If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Ottawa Valley and head southeast on ON-416 S. Continue on ON-416 S for approximately 40 km until you reach the exit for ON-401 E towards Montreal. Merge onto ON-401 E and then take the exit for ON-43 E toward Kemptville. After about 15 km, turn left onto County Rd 43 and continue for about 10 km until you reach Merrickville. Once in Merrickville, follow the signs to 105 Mill St, where the Merrickville Ruins are located. There is no specific parking fee, but check for any local parking regulations.
Public Transportation
For public transportation, start by taking an OC Transpo bus from Ottawa to Kemptville. You can catch the bus from various locations in Ottawa, such as the Ottawa Central Station. The journey will take approximately 1 hour and costs around CAD 5. Once you arrive in Kemptville, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to Merrickville, which is about 15 km away. Expect to pay around CAD 25 for the taxi ride to reach 105 Mill St, Merrickville, ON K0G 1N0, where the Merrickville Ruins are situated.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous and would like to bike, you can cycle from Kemptville to Merrickville. Begin your journey at Kemptville and take County Rd 43 E, which is a scenic route that runs parallel to the Rideau River. This route is approximately 10 km and is mostly flat, making it suitable for cyclists. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow local cycling laws. Once you arrive in Merrickville, head towards 105 Mill St for the Merrickville Ruins.
