Discover more about Bluffers Park & Beach

Bluffers Park & Beach provides public access to the base of the Scarborough Bluffs, one of Toronto's most dramatic natural landscapes. These towering white cliffs, stretching 15 kilometers and rising 90 meters above Lake Ontario, offer a stunning backdrop for a variety of activities. Originally owned by the Borough of Scarborough, the mainland at the base of the bluffs was transferred to the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority in May 1960. The park was developed in two stages, opening in 1975 and the early 1980s, to provide public open space and recreational boating facilities. A total of 2.6 million cubic metres of lakefill was used in its construction. Today, visitors can enjoy a sandy beach, picnic areas, walking trails, and lookouts. Swimming is allowed at the designated beach area, and the park also features a boat launch and visitor's dockage. Popular activities include swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, and hiking the Scarborough Bluffs trails. The marina attracts fishermen from across North America. While the park is open year-round, it's especially popular during the summer months. Getting to the park requires navigating Brimley Road, the only formal entry point, which can experience heavy traffic and limited parking during peak season. Public transportation is available, with seasonal bus service directly to the park. Visitors should be aware that the Bluffs' edge is unstable, and it's important to stay behind fences and marked paths. Despite these challenges, Bluffers Park & Beach remains a beloved destination for those seeking a natural escape within the city.
