Established in 1919 as Our Lady of Victory Parish to commemorate the end of World War I, it was the second Catholic parish in Saskatoon. The original church was destroyed by a fire in 1927, leading to the construction of the current red brick building in 1930, designed in the Gothic style by architect Gentil Verbeke.The church's architecture is characterized by its steeply pitched roof, central tower, arched windows, and doorways, making it a recognizable landmark in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood. Inside, visitors are greeted by stunning stained-glass windows that cast vibrant colors across the serene sanctuary.Throughout its history, St. Mary's has been a welcoming place for diverse cultures. Initially serving English, German, Ukrainian, and Irish Catholics, it later embraced Vietnamese, South and Central American immigrants, and more recently, people from Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
