Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Temuco, take Route 5 (Pan-American Highway) south towards the city of Victoria. After approximately 45 km, take the exit towards Route 181, which leads to the Malleco River area. Continue on Route 181 for about 25 km until you reach the scenic viewpoints and access points along the river. There are also several parking areas available near popular spots.

• Bus

  From Temuco, you can take a bus to Victoria. Multiple bus companies operate this route, and the journey takes about 1 hour. Once in Victoria, you can catch a local minibus or taxi to Malleco River. Ensure you confirm the drop-off point with the driver, as some may not go directly to the river but to nearby access points.

• Taxi

  If you prefer not to take the bus, you can hire a taxi from Temuco to Malleco River. This option is more expensive, with fares ranging from CLP 40,000 to CLP 60,000 depending on your exact destination along the river. It takes about 1 hour to reach the river by taxi.

• Public Transport (Local Minibus)

  After reaching Victoria by bus, look for the local minibuses that head towards Los Sauces or the Malleco River area. These minibuses are a cost-effective option and typically cost around CLP 1,500. The minibus ride will take approximately 30 minutes, and you can ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest access point to the river.

• Hiking or Walking

  If you arrive at a nearby access point by bus or taxi, you may need to hike a short distance to reach the riverbank. There are several trails leading to scenic areas along the river, and it's advisable to wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Ensure you have a map or a reliable GPS device to navigate the trails.
