Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, you can reach the Ibáñez River from the town of Chile Chico. Start by driving north on Route 7 (Carretera Austral) for about 30 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 265. Turn left onto Route 265 and follow the signs to Río Ibáñez. Continue for approximately 15 kilometers, and you will arrive at the river. Ensure your car has enough fuel, as gas stations may be sparse in remote areas.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a bus from Coyhaique to Chile Chico, which operates several times a day. Once you arrive in Chile Chico, you can catch a local taxi or arrange for a shared ride to the Ibáñez River. Make sure to confirm the availability of taxis, as they may not always be on standby. The bus fare from Coyhaique to Chile Chico is approximately CLP 10,000-15,000.

• Bicycle

  If you are feeling adventurous and want to explore the area more closely, consider biking. From Chile Chico, you can cycle along Route 7 northward toward Río Ibáñez. The road is well-maintained, but be prepared for some steep sections and varying weather conditions. It's recommended to allocate a full day for the journey, as it is about 45 kilometers. Ensure you have a helmet and sufficient water and snacks.
