Car
If you are traveling by car within the Biobío Region, start your journey in Los Ángeles. From the center of Los Ángeles, head southeast on Avenida Ricardo Vicuña (Route 5). Continue on Route 5 for approximately 30 km until you reach the junction with Route 180. Take Route 180 towards Lago Lanalhue. After about 10 km, you will see signs directing you to Laguna Esmeralda. Follow these signs, and after another 5 km, you will arrive at the lagoon. Note that parking is available near the lagoon.
Public Transportation
To reach Laguna Esmeralda using public transportation, take a bus from the Los Ángeles bus terminal to the town of Santa Barbara. Buses operate frequently throughout the day, and the journey takes about 1 hour. Once in Santa Barbara, you will need to take a taxi or a local bus to the Laguna Esmeralda area. The taxi ride should cost around 10,000-15,000 CLP (Chilean Pesos). Please confirm with the driver about the drop-off point as some may not know the exact location of the lagoon.
Taxi
If you prefer to go directly from Los Ángeles to Laguna Esmeralda, you can also hire a taxi. This option may be more expensive, costing approximately 30,000-50,000 CLP, depending on the negotiation and traffic conditions. Ensure that the taxi driver knows the destination clearly. The trip will take around 30-40 minutes.
