Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the city of Coyhaique. Head south on Route 7 (Carretera Austral) for about 70 km. You'll pass through beautiful landscapes, so make sure to enjoy the views! After approximately 70 km, look for signs for Villa Cerro Castillo and turn onto the road leading to the town. Follow this road for about 16 km until you reach Villa Cerro Castillo. From there, it's a short drive to the entrance of Reserva Nacional Cerro Castillo. Be aware that some sections of the road may be unpaved, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.
Public Transportation
For those taking public transportation, you can catch a bus from Coyhaique to Villa Cerro Castillo. The bus terminal in Coyhaique is located near the center of town. Look for buses heading towards Puerto Tranquilo or Chile Chico, as they typically stop in Villa Cerro Castillo. The journey takes approximately 2 hours and costs around CLP 5,000. Once you arrive in Villa Cerro Castillo, you can either walk or take a taxi to the park entrance, which is about 2 km away.
Taxi or Rideshare
If you prefer a more direct route, you can also hire a taxi or use a rideshare service from Coyhaique to Reserva Nacional Cerro Castillo. This option offers convenience but can be more expensive, costing around CLP 40,000 to CLP 60,000 for the one-way trip. Discuss the fare beforehand to avoid any misunderstandings. The taxi will take you directly to the entrance of the park, saving you time and effort.
