If you are traveling by car, head towards the city of Ancud, which is located on the northern part of the Chiloé Island. From the main road (Route 5), take the exit towards Ancud. Once in the city, follow the signs directing you to Fuerte Ahui. The fort is located approximately 15 km southwest of the city center. You will need to take Route 5 until you reach the junction for Route W-85. Turn onto W-85 and continue for about 10 km, then follow the signs to Fuerte Ahui. Parking is available near the entrance.

To reach Fuerte Ahui using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Castro or any major town in Chiloé to Ancud. The journey from Castro to Ancud typically takes around 1 hour and costs approximately CLP 2,000. Once you arrive in Ancud, you can catch a local taxi or a colectivos (shared taxi) to Fuerte Ahui. The taxi ride will cost about CLP 5,000 to CLP 7,000 and takes around 20 minutes. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand if you choose a taxi.

For the more adventurous, cycling to Fuerte Ahui is a great option. You can rent a bicycle in Ancud and follow the same route as cars. Start on Route 5 towards the southwest, then take Route W-85. The ride is approximately 15 km and should take about 1 hour, depending on your cycling speed. The scenic views along the way will enhance your experience, but be prepared for some uphill sections.
