Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards La Serena via Route 5. From Coquimbo, take the exit towards La Serena and continue on Route 5 for about 14 km. Look for the exit sign for Avenida del Mar/La Serena Centro. Once you exit, follow Avenida del Mar until you reach Calle El Hinojal. Turn left onto Calle El Hinojal. Continue straight until you see La Serena Zoo on your right at Sitio 3 La Serena, 1780000 Coquimbo.

• Public Transportation

  To reach La Serena Zoo using public transportation, you can take a bus from the main bus terminal in Coquimbo, located at Av. Los Pajaritos. Look for buses heading to La Serena, which are frequent and cost around 2,000 CLP. Once you arrive at the La Serena bus terminal, which is about 5 km from the zoo, you can take a local taxi or a shared minibus (colectivo) towards El Hinojal. The taxi will cost around 5,000 CLP, and colectivos are usually cheaper and can be flagged down along the street.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from anywhere in Coquimbo directly to La Serena Zoo. This option is convenient and will take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. The fare typically ranges from 10,000 to 15,000 CLP, depending on your pickup location.
