    From Valdivia, take the Valdivia/Niebla/Curiñanco bus from the city center bus station. Buses depart approximately every hour and cost around $1,200 CLP. The journey to Curiñanco takes about 45 minutes. From the Curiñanco bus stop, walk approximately 1.5 kilometers towards the ocean, following signs for the coastal path to reach Punta Curiñanco. Cost: Bus fare is approximately $1,200 CLP.

    Punta Curiñanco, located 45 kilometers from Valdivia in the Los Ríos Region, is a protected coastal area showcasing the region's biodiversity and natural beauty. Since 2000, CODEFF (The National Defense Committee of Fauna and Flora) has managed the 80-hectare reserve, promoting conservation, research, and ecotourism.The reserve features four easy trekking paths, totaling 10 kilometers, that wind through various ecosystems. Visitors can admire local flora like Chilean bellflowers (copihues), olivillos, arrayanes, canelos, lingues, melis, and murta. The trails lead to coastal overlooks where marine otters (chungungos), Chilean seaside cinclodes, imperial cormorants, and even southern elephant seals can be spotted. Inland, keep an eye out for pudú, chucao tapaculo, kodkod, South American grey fox, and Magellanic woodpeckers.A highlight is the native olivillo centenary forest, a sacred area for the Mapuche people with a unique spiritual atmosphere. Taking photos during cultural ceremonies is prohibited to respect tribal beliefs. The reserve aims to conserve both biodiversity and immaterial heritage.Note that backpacks are not allowed on the trail to protect the ecosystem.
