Public Transport
From Santiago, take a bus from Terminal San Borja to San José de Maipo. The bus ride takes approximately 1.5 hours and costs around 3,000 CLP. From San José de Maipo, hire a local taxi to the San Francisco Glacier trailhead, roughly 30 km away. Negotiate the fare beforehand; taxis may charge around 15,000-20,000 CLP for the trip.
Car
From Santiago, take Ruta 5 Sur (Pan-American Highway) southbound. After approximately 30 km, take the exit towards San José de Maipo. Follow Route G-25 for about 20 km until you reach San José de Maipo. From there, continue on G-25 for another 30 km towards the San Francisco Glacier trailhead. Be prepared for a gravel road; a high-clearance vehicle is recommended. Parking is available near the trailhead, with a possible small parking fee.
