Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Talca, the capital of Maule Valley. Drive south on Route 5 (Pan-American Highway) for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route J-60. Take the exit for Route J-60 towards San Clemente. Continue on Route J-60 for about 20 kilometers. As you approach San Clemente, look for signs directing you towards Valle de los Cóndores. Follow these signs, which will lead you onto a gravel road. Drive carefully, as this road can be uneven and may require a high-clearance vehicle. The final stretch to Valle de los Cóndores is about 10 kilometers, so be prepared for a scenic but bumpy ride.
Public Transportation
To reach Valle de los Cóndores via public transportation, start by taking a bus from Talca to San Clemente. Buses to San Clemente leave regularly from the Talca bus terminal, and the journey takes about 45 minutes. Once you arrive in San Clemente, you will need to take a taxi or shared van to reach Valle de los Cóndores, which is approximately 20 kilometers away. Confirm with the taxi driver that they know the destination as it may not be a common request. Expect to pay around 10,000 - 15,000 CLP for the taxi ride. Keep in mind that public transport may not always run late in the evening, so plan your return accordingly.
Hiking
For adventurous travelers, hiking to Valle de los Cóndores is an option. From San Clemente, take the Route J-60 and then follow the signs for Valle de los Cóndores. You can park your car at the start of the hiking trail. The hike is approximately 5 kilometers and can take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Ensure you have adequate supplies, including water, snacks, and proper hiking gear, as the trail can be steep and challenging in places.
