Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the nearest major city, Iquique. Take Route 5 North (Pan-American Highway) towards Pozo Almonte. Continue on Route 5 until you reach the junction for Route A-16. Turn onto Route A-16 towards the town of Colchane. The drive will take approximately 3-4 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Once you reach Colchane, continue south on Route A-16 for about 30 kilometers until you see the entrance to Parque Nacional Volcán Isluga on your left.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Iquique to Colchane. Several bus companies operate this route, and the journey takes about 6-7 hours. Once in Colchane, you can hire a taxi or take a local shared taxi (colectivo) to reach the entrance of Parque Nacional Volcán Isluga, which is approximately 30 kilometers away. Be sure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.
Taxi or Colectivo from Colchane
After reaching Colchane, you can hire a taxi or catch a colectivo to the park. It's advisable to negotiate the fare before the trip. The cost may vary but expect to pay around 10,000 to 15,000 CLP. The ride will take about 30 minutes, and you'll be dropped off at the entrance of Parque Nacional Volcán Isluga.
