    From the center of San Pedro de Atacama, start at the main square (Plaza de San Pedro) and walk west on Calle Toconao. Continue until you reach Calle Caracoles, then turn left. Follow Calle Caracoles until it meets Route 23. Turn right onto Route 23 heading south. The entrance to the Cordillera de la Sal will be on your right after approximately 2 km. The walk takes about 30-40 minutes. No entrance fee is required.

    Taxis are readily available in San Pedro de Atacama. A taxi ride from the town center to the Cordillera de la Sal takes about 8 minutes and typically costs between $4 and $6 USD. Ask the driver to take you to the entrance of the Cordillera de la Sal on Route 23 south of town.
