Walking
If you are starting from the Plaza Muñoz Gamero in the center of Punta Arenas, head south on Avenida Colón towards the coast. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Avenida Costanera. Turn left onto Avenida Costanera and walk along the waterfront for about 1 kilometer. You will enjoy a scenic view of the Strait of Magellan. After you pass the municipal market on your right, keep walking until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Ruta 9. Continue for about 2 kilometers. The Monumento a Charles Darwin will be on your right, just off the main road, recognizable by its distinctive statue and the surrounding park.
Public Transport
Start at Plaza Muñoz Gamero and look for local buses that head to the Zona Franca or the Parque del Estrecho. Board the bus that indicates it goes along Ruta 9. The journey should take approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you reach the stop closest to the Monumento a Charles Darwin (ask the driver to let you know when to get off), disembark and walk back a short distance to the monument. It will be a short 5-minute walk from the bus stop.
