Walking
From the center of San Pedro de Atacama, head north on Caracoles Street. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Gustavo Le Paige Street. Turn left onto Gustavo Le Paige Street and walk for about 10 minutes until you reach the main bus station (Terminal de Buses).
Bus
At the Terminal de Buses, purchase a ticket for a bus headed to Antofagasta. Buses typically run several times a day, so check the schedule in advance. The journey to Antofagasta takes approximately 5-6 hours. Once on the bus, sit back and enjoy the scenic views of the desert landscape.
Walking
Upon arrival at Antofagasta, exit the bus terminal and head towards the coastline. Walk along Avenida Edmundo Pérez Zujovic, which will lead you toward the beach. From the beach, you can enjoy views of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding landscapes.
Tour or Guided Excursion
To explore the Atacama Desert, it is recommended to join a guided tour. There are various tour companies in Antofagasta that offer excursions to different parts of the desert, including Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon) and El Tatio geysers.
