From Valparaíso, take a bus towards Viña del Mar. Buses frequently depart from the bus terminal, with a fare of approximately 1,500 CLP. Alight near Avenida San Martín and walk towards the coast; the pier is located between Playa Acapulco and Playa El Sol, about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop.

Metro and Bus

Take the Valparaíso Metro to the final stop in Viña del Mar. Transfer to a local bus heading towards Av. San Martín and get off near El Sol beach. The combined fare for the metro and bus is around 1,500 CLP. From there, it's a short walk to Vergara Pier.

Taxi/Ride-Sharing

Take a taxi or ride-sharing service from anywhere in Valparaíso to Vergara Pier, address: El Sol - entre playas Acapulco y, Av. San Martín 925, Viña del Mar. The ride takes about 20 minutes depending on traffic and typically costs between 8,000 to 10,000 CLP.

Vergara Pier, an iconic landmark in Viña del Mar, extends into the Pacific Ocean, providing panoramic views of the coastline and cityscape. The pier's history dates back to the late 19th century when it was constructed by Lever and Murphy under the authorization of Salvador Vergara, son of Viña del Mar's founder, to support the area's burgeoning industrial activities. It initially served as a hub for loading and unloading coal and other freight.Over the years, the pier faced several challenges, including damage from severe winter storms. It underwent repairs and was later transferred to the Sugar Refinery Company of Viña del Mar (CRAV). In 1983, it was remodeled into a tourist promenade, offering a space for locals and tourists to enjoy the coastal scenery. The pier was fully restored in 2016, adding viewing platforms for admiring the Valparaíso Bay.Today, Vergara Pier is a vibrant center of activity, surrounded by gardens, cafes, and restaurants. Visitors can enjoy local seafood, explore nearby beaches, and capture stunning sunsets. The pier also hosts art installations and provides opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and boat tours. The combination of natural beauty and local culture makes Vergara Pier a must-visit destination in Viña del Mar.
