Dolly Beach, nestled on the southeast coast of Christmas Island, is a secluded paradise renowned for its stunning natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere. A 30-minute drive from Settlement followed by a 2km hike through lush rainforest leads to this hidden gem. The 1.8km jungle path, mostly boardwalked, immerses visitors in the island's unique ecosystem, home to red crabs, robber crabs, and giant strangler figs.The beach itself is fringed with coconut palms and boasts a vibrant coral reef, offering excellent snorkeling opportunities. The clear turquoise waters invite swimmers to explore the diverse marine life just offshore. Shallow rock pools and a freshwater stream add to the beach's charm, creating an inviting spot for relaxation and exploration.Dolly Beach is also a significant nesting site for marine turtles, with tracks of adults and hatchlings often visible in the sand. Giant robber crabs, unique to the island, can also be spotted in the area. Camping is permitted with a permit, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the peaceful atmosphere and natural wonders of Dolly Beach. Please remember to respect the local fauna and do not disturb the animals or their nests.

Getting There
Car
From Flying Fish Cove, drive for approximately 30 minutes towards Dolly Beach. Follow Murray Road and Phosphate Hill Road towards the airport, and then follow the signs. A high clearance vehicle is recommended as the last part of the drive to the Dolly Beach carpark is on a dirt road which can be quite potholed and uneven. Parking is free at the car park. From the car park, it is approximately a 2km return walk to Dolly Beach through the jungle.
Public Transport
Limited public transport options are available on Christmas Island. A bus runs from Kampong to various points around the island. Check the local bus schedule for routes heading towards the National Park. From the nearest bus stop, it is recommended to either walk or hire a taxi to complete the journey to Dolly Beach. The taxi ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes from the bus stop to the beach. The bus fare is approximately $5.
Walking
From the nearest bus stop, head towards the main road and follow the pathway that leads into the National Park. It's a scenic walk of about 30-40 minutes through beautiful landscapes. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
