Plaza de la Aduana: The Heart of Cartagena

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are staying in the historic Centro area, Plaza de la Aduana is easily accessible on foot. Start from the Plaza Santo Domingo, a well-known spot in the city. From there, head east along Calle Santo Domingo until you reach the intersection with Calle 32. Turn left onto Calle 32 and continue straight for about 4 blocks. You will see Plaza de la Aduana on your right. The plaza is a vibrant spot filled with local vendors and beautiful colonial architecture.

• Bicycle

  Rent a bicycle from one of the many bike rental shops around the city. Begin your ride at Parque de la Marina, which is a popular starting point. Head southeast towards Calle 30, then turn left and ride along the waterfront. Continue until you reach Calle 32, where you’ll turn right. Plaza de la Aduana will be just a short distance ahead on your left. Make sure to lock your bike at the designated racks before exploring the plaza.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  To reach Plaza de la Aduana using public transportation, locate a bus stop near your accommodation. Take any bus heading towards El Centro. Most buses will take you directly to the historic district. Inform the driver or check the route map to ensure you get off at the closest stop to Plaza de la Aduana, which is usually near the intersection of Calle 32 and Avenida del Arsenal. From there, it's a short walk to the plaza.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi. Hail a taxi from the street or request one via a ride-sharing app. Provide the driver with the address: Cl. 32 #130, El Centro. The driver will take you directly to Plaza de la Aduana. The ride should take around 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive, pay attention to the vibrant surroundings before you step out.
