Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Guatapé, located at Cl. 32 #26-19. Head east on Cl. 32 towards the waterfront. Continue straight until you reach the main road, then turn left onto the road that leads to the famous El Peñol rock. The drive should take about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. Note that parking is available near the rock, but there may be a small fee for parking.
Public Bus
To reach El Peñol by public transportation, walk to the main bus terminal in Guatapé, which is near the town square. Look for buses marked for 'El Peñol' or 'La Piedra'. The fare is typically around 3,000 COP (Colombian Pesos). Buses leave frequently, approximately every 30 minutes, and the journey will take about 20 minutes. Once you arrive, you'll need to walk a short distance to the entrance of the rock.
Taxi
For a more direct route, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Guatapé to El Peñol. Taxis are readily available in the town. The fare should be around 15,000 COP to 20,000 COP, and the ride will take about 10 minutes. Make sure to confirm the price with the driver before starting your journey.
Walking
If you're feeling adventurous and in good shape, consider walking to El Peñol from the center of Guatapé. This journey is about 3 kilometers and will take approximately 40-50 minutes. Head east on Cl. 32, then follow the signs towards La Piedra. Enjoy the scenic views along the way, but be prepared for some uphill walking as you approach the rock.
