Discover more about Casa Museo Otraparte

Casa Museo Otraparte is a museum in Envigado dedicated to the life and works of Colombian philosopher and writer Fernando González (1895-1964). González, a controversial figure, explored art, economics, history, morality, sociology, and theology in his writings. The museum is housed in González's former villa, named 'Otraparte' (Otherplace), a modest home with colonial-style architecture and a beautiful garden. The house was built in 1940 and designed by architect Carlos Obregón, engineer Félix Mejía Arango, and painter Pedro Nel Gómez. The museum strives to preserve the atmosphere of the house during González's life. Displays provide information about his life and works, though primarily in Spanish. In addition to the house, visitors can enjoy the surrounding gardens with flowers, paths, and water features. The Casa Museo also functions as a cultural center, hosting film screenings, lectures, and musical performances. The Café del Otraparte, adjacent to the house, offers a tranquil space to enjoy food and drinks. In 2006, the Colombian Congress declared Casa Museo Otraparte a site of Public and Cultural Interest.
