Parque de los Deseos: Medellín's Urban Oasis

Parque de los Deseos, or Park of Desires, is a unique urban park in Medellín, Colombia, designed to connect people with the universe. Opened in 2003, the park was created by Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) and the Medellín City Hall to offer visitors a place for recreation and relaxation while interacting with elements that explain concepts of astronomy and their impact on water, energy, and communications. Today, the park is managed by the EPM Foundation and has become a prominent cultural meeting point in the city. The park spans over 12,000 square meters and includes interactive science displays, such as acoustic shells, a solar clock, and a demonstration of solar eclipses. The Casa de la Música, inaugurated in July 2005, is also located in the park. Parque de los Deseos also hosts a variety of events such as outdoor film screenings, concerts, art exhibitions, and workshops. Located in the Zona Norte of Medellín, the park is surrounded by other tourist attractions, including the Jardín Botánico, Parque Explora, Parque Norte, and the Planetario de Medellín. The park provides a space to relax and enjoy the surroundings, with food and drink vendors nearby.
