Car
If you have a rental car, start your journey from the nearest major city, Pereira. From Pereira, take the road towards Salento, which is approximately 30 km away. Follow the signs for Salento as you drive through the picturesque countryside. Once you reach Salento, continue on the main road until you see the signs for Cocora Valley. The entrance to Cocora Valley is about 11 km from the center of Salento on Vía al Valle de Cocora. There is a parking area available near the entrance, which may incur a small fee.
Public Transportation - Bus
To reach Cocora Valley via public transportation, take a bus from Pereira to Salento. Buses leave frequently from the Pereira bus terminal and the journey takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Salento, head to the main square where you can find jeep taxis that will take you to Cocora Valley. The jeep ride is about 30 minutes and costs around 3,000-5,000 COP per person. Be sure to confirm the fare with the driver before you depart. The jeep taxis operate until around 6 PM, so plan your return accordingly.
Walking/ Hiking
Once you arrive at the Cocora Valley entrance, the main hiking trails are well-marked. If you're an avid hiker, consider exploring the trails that lead deeper into the valley where you can see the iconic wax palm trees. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring water, as the trails can be steep and challenging in places. The entrance to the park may charge a small fee, so be prepared with cash. The park is open from 8 AM to 6 PM daily.
