Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Pereira, the capital city of Risaralda Department. Take the Autopista del Café toward Manizales. After about 45 km, take the exit for Jardín. Follow the signs towards Jardín and continue on the road for approximately 20 km. Once you arrive in Jardín, look for signs to Cascada La Escalera. There is a parking area near the entrance to the trail leading to the falls. Note that you may need to pay a small parking fee, usually around 5,000 COP.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Cascada La Escalera via public transportation, take a bus from Pereira to Jardín. Buses to Jardín depart from the main terminal in Pereira and the journey takes about 2-3 hours. Once you arrive in Jardín, you can either walk to the trailhead or hire a local taxi. The taxi may charge around 10,000 COP to take you to the starting point of the hike. From there, follow the marked trail to the waterfall, which is a scenic hike of about 30-40 minutes.

• Hiking

  If you are already in Jardín and prefer hiking, you can start your trek from the town center. Head towards the main square and ask locals for directions to Cascada La Escalera. The hike is well-marked and should take around 1 hour. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the trail can be steep in places. There is no entrance fee for the waterfall area, making it an excellent choice for a budget-friendly adventure.
