Cabo San Juan: Tayrona's Crown Jewel
Discover paradise at Cabo San Juan: where turquoise waters meet lush jungle in Tayrona National Park's most iconic beach.
Cabo San Juan del Guía is one of the most iconic and visited destinations within Tayrona National Natural Park. This paradisiacal beach captivates visitors with its stunning turquoise waters, golden sands, and the lush tropical jungle of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. The beach is divided into two sections by a rocky promontory and a small creek, creating a unique and picturesque landscape. Swimming is generally safe, but caution is advised due to currents and occasional eddies. The first beach, in front of the camping area, features thick coral sands and gentle waters. The second beach has rocky and coral formations that create currents, so swimming with care is recommended. To reach Cabo San Juan, most travelers enter Tayrona Park through the El Zaino entrance. From there, it's a scenic 2 to 2.5-hour hike through diverse ecosystems, passing other beautiful beaches like Arrecifes and La Piscina. Alternatively, you can take a boat to Taganga and skip the hike back. Cabo San Juan offers a restaurant, camping facilities with hammocks and cabins, and a store for essential items. Spending a night here allows you to fully immerse yourself in the atmospheric beauty of the park.
