Chicamocha National Park (Parque Nacional del Chicamocha), often called PANACHI, is more than just a park; it's an experience that combines natural beauty, cultural immersion, and adrenaline-pumping adventures. Opened in 2006, the park was created to protect the Chicamocha Canyon and showcase the culture of the Santander region. The park's main draw is undoubtedly the Chicamocha Canyon itself, one of the largest canyons in the world. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views from various vantage points within the park. The 6.3-kilometer cable car ride is a highlight, offering a unique perspective as it descends into the canyon and ascends to Mesa de los Santos on the other side. Along the way, you might spot the homes and even a school of the people who live in the canyon. Beyond the views, Chicamocha National Park offers a variety of activities. Explore the Monument to Santandereanidad, a sculpture that commemorates the revolutionary spirit of the Santander region. For thrill-seekers, there's a zipline and an extreme swing.
