Perched atop a hill in the northern part of Barichara, the Santa Barbara Chapel stands as a testament to the town's rich history and enduring beauty. This charming colonial stone church, also known as La Capilla de Santa Barbara, is considered one of Barichara's first temples. While only the facade remains from the original 18th-century construction, it was carefully reconstructed in the 1990s to reflect its original appearance. Visitors are captivated by the chapel's picturesque setting and the stunning panoramic views it offers of Barichara and the surrounding mountains. The chapel's architecture exemplifies the rustic charm of Barichara, with its sandstone construction, simple design, and single stone bell tower. A magnificent, old ceiba tree, one of the oldest in town, stands proudly in front of the chapel. The Santa Barbara Chapel is a popular venue for weddings, with reservations often made a year in advance due to its romantic appeal. The wedding party often begins in the town square and makes its way up to the chapel. Adjacent to the chapel, Parque Para Las Artes Jorge Delgado Sierra offers a space filled with unique sculptures and charming views.
