Chasm Junction, located on the East Longs Peak Trail, serves as the branching point for hikers heading to the challenging summit of Longs Peak or the stunning Chasm Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. This well-marked intersection offers a crucial decision point amidst a beautiful alpine environment, approximately 3.2 miles from the trailhead.

Walking
From the Longs Peak Trailhead, follow the East Longs Peak Trail for approximately 3.2 miles. The trail gradually ascends through a forest, eventually breaking above the treeline. The junction is well-marked with signs indicating the directions to Longs Peak and Chasm Lake. There are no fees associated with accessing the East Longs Peak Trail or Chasm Junction. Parking at the Longs Peak Trailhead is free, but the lot fills up very early, especially on weekends. Consider arriving before 3 AM to secure a spot. If the lot is full, parking along the road is permitted on weekends, but not on weekdays. There are no shuttle services that directly service the Longs Peak Trailhead. Bathrooms are available at the trailhead.
Public Transport
While there is no direct public transportation to the Longs Peak Trailhead, you can take the Hiker Shuttle from the Estes Park Visitor Center to the Park & Ride transit hub inside Rocky Mountain National Park. From there, you would need to find alternative transportation to the Longs Peak Trailhead, as the in-park shuttles do not service that area. The Hiker Shuttle requires reservations, which can be made on Recreation.gov for $2.00 per reservation. This shuttle operates from late May to mid-October. From the Park & Ride, options include a taxi or private trailhead drop-off service, such as Explore Estes, which can be booked in advance. Expect to pay around $100-$150 for a one-way private shuttle from Park & Ride to the Longs Peak Trailhead. A park entrance fee of $30 is also required.
