Discover more about Fiske Planetarium

Fiske Planetarium, a Boulder landmark since 1975, stands as the largest planetarium between Chicago and Los Angeles. Founded through a generous donation from Wallace Franz Fiske, a CU alumnus, the planetarium has been a gateway to the cosmos for students, educators, and the public alike. Fiske boasts a 65-foot diameter dome and a state-of-the-art 8K Sky-Skan projection system, offering dazzling visuals and immersive experiences. The MegaStar projector displays over 10 million stars, creating one of the most beautiful indoor skies. With a seating capacity of 200, Fiske provides a comfortable and engaging environment for exploring the universe. Fiske offers a diverse range of programs, including fulldome films, live star talks, laser and liquid sky music shows, concerts, and special events related to astronomy and space exploration. As a constituent of the Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences Department at CU Boulder, Fiske is deeply involved in education and outreach, producing its own fulldome films distributed to planetariums worldwide. Visitors can also enjoy the Science on a Sphere exhibit, educational displays, and art exhibits that combine science with artistic expression. Fiske is committed to accessibility, offering accommodations for visitors with limited mobility and partnering with programs like Museums for All and Blue Star Museums to provide discounted or free admission.
