Discover more about Golden City Brewery

Golden City Brewery (GCB) isn't just a brewery; it's an integral part of Golden's identity. Founded in 1993 by geologists Charlie and Janine Sturdavant, GCB started as a humble operation in the backyard of their historic Golden home. They filled their old machine shop with repurposed dairy tanks, and Charlie began brewing German-style ales. The original tasting room was in the sunroom of their house, serving Red Ale and Pale Ale to locals in growlers. Over the years, GCB has expanded, but it has never lost its original charm. The carriage house is now the tasting room, and the backyard has become a sprawling beer garden. The brewery itself is still in the machine shop, with a second level added. GCB is known for its relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, and a diverse selection of beers, including their legendary Red Ale and Pale Ale (Kolsch), alongside newer creations like Pink Guava Bomber Sour. They also offer wines and ciders made on-site. The beer garden is a major draw, creating a community gathering spot. With picnic tables, string lights, and often a food truck on-site, it's the perfect place to unwind. GCB welcomes everyone, including families and well-behaved, leashed dogs. It's a place where Coors employees and tourists alike can mingle and enjoy a taste of Golden's local flavor. GCB proudly holds the title of '2nd Largest Brewery in Golden'.
