Driving
From Denver, take I-70 west to the Georgetown exit (228). Follow the signs for the Guanella Pass Scenic Byway (County Road 381) south for 9 miles to the trailhead parking area. Parking is free, but the lot fills up quickly, especially on weekends, so arrive early. An alternative parking lot is located on the west side of Guanella Pass. Guanella Pass Road is closed in the winter.
Walking
From the Guanella Pass trailhead parking area, the Mount Bierstadt Trail begins on the east side of the road. The trail descends slightly before ascending to the summit. Follow the well-maintained path, crossing Scott Gomer Creek via boulders or a wooden boardwalk. Continue through the willows and up the western slopes, following cairns to the summit.
