    Driving

    From Delta, head south on US-50 for approximately one mile. Turn east onto E Road, following signs for Sweitzer Lake State Park. The park entrance is a short distance down E Road. A daily vehicle pass costs $10-$12.

    Public Transport

    While there isn't a direct public transportation route to Sweitzer Lake State Park, you can take the Delta Dash bus route to a location in Delta, and then take a taxi or ride-sharing service to the park, which is about a mile south of the city. Taxi fare from Delta to the park is approximately $10-$15.

    Bring your own net and ball for volleyball, which is permitted in open areas.
    Waterfowl hunting is allowed on weekends, Wednesdays, and legal holidays within designated areas; check park regulations.

    Sweitzer Lake State Park is a popular day-use destination located just south of Delta, Colorado. Established in 1960, the park encompasses 210 acres, featuring a 137-acre reservoir created by damming Dry Creek. Morgan Sweitzer, a local land donor, envisioned the park as a recreational space for the community, and today it continues to fulfill that purpose. The park is known for its diverse range of water activities. Power boating, jet skiing, water skiing, sailing, canoeing, and paddle boarding are all popular on the lake. A boat ramp is located on the west end of the lake for easy access. Swimming is permitted in a designated swim area. Anglers can enjoy catch-and-release fishing for catfish, bluegill, green sunfish, and carp. Beyond the water, Sweitzer Lake State Park offers picnic areas with shelters, fire rings, and lake views. A 1.5-mile trail loops around the lake, providing opportunities for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Birdwatchers will appreciate the diverse avian species that inhabit the park, with approximately 179 species having been spotted. The park's varied habitats, including shrublands, wetlands, and woodlands, support a wide array of wildlife. Visitors should note that Sweitzer Lake State Park is a day-use only park; camping is not permitted. However, nearby Crawford State Park offers camping facilities. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
