Discover more about Brush Creek Trailhead

The Brush Creek Trailhead provides entry to a quintessential Crested Butte hiking experience. Situated a short drive from town, the trail is renowned for its accessibility and picturesque beauty. The trail gently winds through open meadows alongside the East River, providing panoramic views of surrounding peaks like Teocalli Mountain and White Mountain. In summer, the meadows burst into vibrant color with a stunning display of wildflowers, making it a favorite destination during the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival. The trail itself follows an old jeep road, ascending gradually to a high point with expansive views up the Brush Creek valley. It's an out-and-back trail, allowing hikers to turn around at any point and customize the length of their trek. While the trail is generally easy, comfortable hiking shoes and sun protection are recommended, as shade is limited. The parking lot at the trailhead is relatively small, so arriving early is advised, especially during peak season. In winter, the trail transforms into a snowy landscape perfect for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, offering a peaceful escape from the crowds.
