If you are traveling westbound on I-70, you must continue to the Grizzly Creek exit #121 and double back. Follow the signs to the Hanging Lake Rest Area, where the trailhead is located. A permit is required to park and hike. Parking is included in the permit. Note: Vehicles over 25 feet are not permitted in the parking area.

For those using public transportation, the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) bus operates between Aspen and Glenwood Springs. Get off at the Glenwood Springs stop. Reservations are required for everyone visiting Hanging Lake, regardless of how you get to the trailhead.
