Discover more about Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park, a 5.7-acre space in downtown Greeley, has been the city's central gathering place since its founding in 1870. Originally envisioned by Greeley's founder, Nathan Meeker, as the heart of the community, the park was designed by John Sanborn and included two lakes, Luna and Auricular. These lakes, named for their shapes, were eventually drained due to mosquito problems and flooding. Over the years, Lincoln Park has been the site of numerous memorials, gardens, and public structures. One notable feature is the Pioneer Fountain, built in 1907, incorporating stones from Colorado Springs and seashells from Maine. The park has also hosted significant events, including Potato Day in 1894, which showcased local agricultural produce. Today, Lincoln Park continues to be a hub of activity, hosting events like the Greeley Farmers' Market, Moonlight Movies, and the annual Arts Picnic. The park is surrounded by a mix of public buildings and businesses, reinforcing its role as the center of downtown Greeley. Visitors can enjoy the park's green spaces, attend community events, or simply relax in this historic and vibrant setting.
