It even gained a reputation as a place where weary travelers could enjoy a hot bath for a small fee. The building has survived multiple fires and changes in ownership, reflecting the dynamic nature of the town.In 1971, the Astor House faced demolition to make way for a parking lot. However, concerned citizens rallied together to save the landmark, forming the Golden Landmarks Association. Their efforts led to the city purchasing the building and transforming it into a museum. Today, the Astor House is home to the Foothills Art Center, hosting art exhibitions and cultural events.
