Boulder Public Library: A Community Hub

The Boulder Public Library's main branch, located on Arapahoe Avenue, stands as a testament to the city's commitment to learning, culture, and community engagement. Originally housed in a Carnegie library built in 1906, the library moved to its present location in 1961. The current building, a two-story structure, provides 23,800 square feet of space for sculpture galleries, reading rooms, gathering spaces, video viewing rooms, and music listening rooms.Over the years, the Boulder Public Library has adapted to the evolving needs of the community. In 2014, major renovations were completed to expand and repair the main branch, addressing aging infrastructure and creating more functional spaces. In November 2022, the Boulder Public Library District was formed, decoupling the library from the municipality of Boulder and establishing a dedicated funding source through a property tax mill levy.The library offers a wide array of resources and services, including books, e-books, audiobooks, DVDs, and online databases. It also hosts numerous programs and events for all ages, such as storytimes, workshops, lectures, and film screenings.
