The most common way to experience Ruby Canyon is by floating the Colorado River. Put-in is typically at the Loma Boat Launch in Colorado, just off I-70. Take exit 15 and head south, then make a left at the T-intersection. The boat ramp is less than a mile from the junction. A permit from Recreation.gov is required for overnight trips. The float to the Westwater Ranger Station in Utah is about 25 miles. Take-out is at exit 227 off I-70; head south for 9 miles to the ranger station. Shuttle services are available.
