Discover more about Cano's Castle

Cano's Castle, located in the small town of Antonito, Colorado, is an extraordinary architectural creation born from the vision of Dominic “Cano” Espinoza. A Vietnam War veteran, Cano began building the castle in the 1980s as a tribute to God for sparing his life. Over the years, this ongoing project has become a beloved roadside attraction, drawing visitors with its shimmering and unusual design. The castle is constructed primarily from recycled materials, including beer cans, scrap metal, hubcaps, grills, glass, and bicycle reflectors. These materials are carefully arranged to form four distinct towers: "the King," "the Queen," "the Rook," and "the Palace". The towering structures rise approximately 40 feet, reflecting sunlight and adding a unique sparkle to the neighborhood. Cano's Castle stands as a testament to the idea that beauty can be found in unexpected places, transforming discarded items into a work of art. Visitors can view the castle from the roadside at the corner of State St. & E. 10th Ave. While the interior is not open to the public and remains private property, the exterior provides ample opportunity to appreciate Cano's craftsmanship and artistic vision.
