Aspen Mountain, affectionately called Ajax by locals, is more than just a ski resort; it's a landmark that embodies Aspen's rich skiing history. Founded in 1946 by Walter Paepcke, it was the first venture of the Aspen Skiing Company and quickly put Aspen on the map as a premier ski destination. Unlike its sister mountains, Aspen Mountain caters primarily to intermediate and advanced skiers, with no beginner runs.
