Discover more about Vail Interfaith Chapel

The Vail Interfaith Chapel stands as a beacon of unity and peace in the bustling resort town of Vail. Completed in 1969, this unique chapel is one of the few in the country where multiple faiths share the same worship space while maintaining their individual denominational affiliations. The Vail Religious Foundation was formed in 1963 by community members to establish a permanent worship space. Vail Associates donated the land along Gore Creek. The chapel's architecture reflects Vail's alpine ambiance, with a rustic wooden design that blends seamlessly with the surrounding natural landscape. Inside, the chapel is simple and elegant, with vaulted wooded ceilings and a removable wooden cross to accommodate Jewish services. Because the view from the altar includes mountains, trees, and Gore Creek, stained glass windows were deemed unnecessary. More than just a place of worship, the Vail Interfaith Chapel serves as a vital community center, hosting arts and education programs, support group meetings, and even providing emergency shelter. Over 34,000 residents and guests attend worship services each year. The chapel also hosts weddings and other life events. The chapel welcomes visitors of all backgrounds to experience its serene atmosphere and participate in its diverse programs. A labyrinth is located near the chapel and Ministry Center, next to Gore Creek.
