Balanced Rock: A Natural Marvel in Colorado Springs

Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Monument, start at Monument Town Hall (166 2nd St, Monument, CO 80132). Head south on 2nd St toward the intersection with Washington St. Turn left onto Washington St and continue onto the Santa Fe Trail. Follow the trail south until you reach the junction with Highway 105. Cross the highway carefully to the other side and continue south on the trail. This will lead you toward the more scenic areas and eventually connect you to the trails leading to Colorado Springs. Walk towards Garden Dr, where Balanced Rock is located.

• Biking

  Starting from Monument, locate the Santa Fe Trail at the intersection of 2nd St and Washington St. Head south on the Santa Fe Trail, which is a dedicated bike path, and ride until you reach the junction with Highway 105. Carefully cross the highway and continue biking south. Follow the trail until you reach the vicinity of Colorado Springs, and look for signs directing you to Garden Dr. As you approach Garden Dr, be aware of traffic and navigate towards Balanced Rock.

• Public Transport

  While there may not be direct public transport from Monument to Balanced Rock, you can take a bus from Monument to Colorado Springs. Start at the Monument Park-and-Ride (in the vicinity of Monument Town Hall). Board a bus that heads towards Colorado Springs. Once you arrive in Colorado Springs, transfer to a local bus that heads towards Garden Dr. Make sure to check the bus schedules and routes in advance to ensure a smooth journey.
