Schryver Park: A Tranquil Oasis in Manitou Springs

Schryver Park, nestled in the heart of Manitou Springs, Colorado, provides a serene escape for nature lovers and families alike. This 5.7-acre park, conveniently located off Garden of the Gods Place, offers a variety of amenities and activities for visitors of all ages. The park's centerpiece is a tranquil pond, home to ducks and other waterfowl, providing a picturesque setting for a leisurely stroll or a quiet moment of reflection. A mountain stream flows through the park, adding to the soothing ambiance. Anglers under 16 can enjoy fishing in the pond. Families with young children will appreciate the fenced-in playground with its clean turf, ensuring a safe and enjoyable play experience. Picnic tables are scattered throughout the park, making it an ideal spot for a family lunch or a relaxing afternoon meal. Recent renovations have enhanced the park's appeal, with clean, informative signs, well-maintained benches, lighting, and bridges. In 2018, efforts began to enhance the natural environment of Manitou Springs, and the Gnome Garden at the park's east entrance reflects this commitment. Designed by Amy Yarger, Horticulture Director of the Butterfly Pavilion, the garden features native plants that attract pollinators and a whimsical wooden gnome sculpture. A lighted fountain was added to the pond in 2024 to keep the water aerated and healthy for wildlife. Schryver Park also offers convenient access to the Manitou Springs Pool and Fitness Center, electric bike share, and EV charging stations.
