Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car within the Pikes Peak Region, start from downtown Colorado Springs. Head north on Cascade Avenue and then take a left onto Pikes Peak Avenue. Follow the signs for Highway 24 and merge onto it heading west. Continue on Highway 24 until you reach the Pikes Peak Highway entrance. The entrance is approximately 19 miles from downtown Colorado Springs. Please note that there is an entrance fee of $15 per vehicle (as of 2023), which allows access to the summit of Pikes Peak.

• Public Transportation + Shuttle

  For those relying on public transportation, take the Mountain Metro Transit bus route 3 from downtown Colorado Springs towards the Pikes Peak Highway. You can board the bus at various stops in the downtown area, including the transfer center on Costilla Street. The bus will take you to the Pikes Peak Highway entrance. From there, you can catch the Pikes Peak Cog Railway or the Pikes Peak Summit Visitor Center shuttle, which will take you up the mountain. Note that this option may involve additional costs for the shuttle or railway tickets, which vary by season.

• Taxi/Rideshare

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can also use a taxi or rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to reach the Pikes Peak Highway entrance. Simply enter 'Pikes Peak Highway' as your destination in the app. The fare will depend on your starting location within the Pikes Peak Region, but expect it to be around $20-$40 from central Colorado Springs.

• Bicycling

  For the adventurous, biking to Pikes Peak can be a thrilling experience! Start in Colorado Springs and follow the same route as vehicles. Make sure you are prepared for a challenging ride, as the ascent is steep. There are no dedicated bike lanes on the highway, so cyclists should exercise caution. Remember to bring plenty of water and snacks for the journey, as well as gear for changing weather conditions.
