Discover more about Ghost Town Museum

The Ghost Town Museum in Colorado Springs offers a unique glimpse into Colorado's Wild West past. Opened in 1954, the museum preserves the memory of the many mining towns that sprang up around Pikes Peak during the late 1800s gold rush. These towns boomed with the growth of railroad traffic but dwindled and disappeared as the mines were depleted. The museum itself is housed in a historic stone building that once served as a maintenance facility for the Colorado Midland Railroad. Inside, you'll find a carefully constructed indoor "town" featuring original buildings and thousands of artifacts from the era. Explore a sheriff's office, jail, saloon, general store, and more, all filled with authentic items that offer a peek into pioneer life. Visitors can engage in interactive activities such as panning for real gold (seasonal), operating a butter churn, and playing antique arcade games. The museum also features a gift shop with old-fashioned candies, snacks, and souvenirs. Allow about an hour or two to fully experience this journey back in time.
