Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you're traveling by car, start by navigating to the nearest major city, which is Denver, Colorado. From Denver, take I-70 West for about 60 miles until you reach Exit 203 for CO-91. Continue on CO-91 for approximately 24 miles, where you'll reach the small town of Alma. From Alma, take County Road 6 for about 5 miles until you reach the trailhead for Mt Lincoln. This route offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, so be sure to take your time and enjoy the scenery.
Public Transportation & Hiking
If you're relying on public transportation, take a bus from Denver to Breckenridge, which typically takes around 2 hours. Once in Breckenridge, you can use a local shuttle service to reach Alma, which is about 16 miles away. Check the local shuttle schedules as they may vary. From Alma, you'll need to hike approximately 5 miles to reach the trailhead for Mt Lincoln. It's essential to wear sturdy hiking boots and bring enough water and snacks for your hike.
Ride-sharing
Another option is to utilize ride-sharing services like Uber or Lyft. You can request a ride from Denver directly to the Mt Lincoln trailhead. This will be a more costly option compared to public transportation, typically ranging from $100 to $150 one way, depending on traffic and the time of day. Make sure to confirm with your driver that they can take you to the specific trailhead, as not all drivers may be familiar with the area.
